Day XI - The Train to Salt Lake City and Amazing Scenery in Utah

Waking up a little blurry-eyed, and after a quick stop for some sammiches we barely made it in time to the train station to get told that our train was about 40 minutes delayed.  No biggie!  We kicked it there for a while until our train arrived and hopped on for our next train adventure!

Today was an insane travel day on the train.  The last train we had been on was also epic, going from Denver to Glenwood Springs, but we were largely familiar with climbing into snowy mountains from the various trips we had done from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe before our honeymoon.  Today was something different, something completely unlike anything we had seen before.

We started to head down the mountains and drop into Utah, and see amazing scenery over and over.  While we weren't actually in these national parks, we could see the outer edges of both Arches National Park and Zion, and, well, it was pretty darn incredible.

After hanging out in the viewing cart (as per usual), we ended up meeting a few new friends.  One who took a huge interest in iPhone Antidote, and recommended some good contacts for Ryan to connect with. After it started to get a bit darker we decided to head back to our seats and watch a bit of a new show we had gotten interested in (The OA).

As we pulled into Salt Lake City at around Midnight, we took a look at a map and realized we were only about 4 blocks away from our hotel, so we decided to walk it.  Well, apparently there are still some ghetto areas in Salt Lake City, because about 2 blocks away from the train station it felt considerably grittier than we had expected.  Turns out from talking to a nice Uber driver, that it's pretty much literally the only street corner in the City that has any problems.

It was not a problem though, and a couple of minutes later we were at the Sheraton and it was so nice to lie down and turn the air conditioning on and order too expensive room service just like a proper honeymoon!

Just a quick stop in Salt Lake City for tonight, but hopefully we can explore it a bit more in a few days after we come back from Yellowstone!
