Day XVI - Hot Tubs, Flooding Rivers, Champagne, Drinks & Craps!

We woke up today, and we were very glad to be in a bed instead of on a train.  After Ryan handled some quick work things, we decided to take a walk down to the riverwalk in Reno, since we had heard it was pretty nice.

As we left our hotel to walk down to the Riverwalk we noticed some pretty incredible steak and drink deals at a few of the hotels.  One of them, think it was a $4.99 Prime Rib special, caught our eye.  We decided we might need to check that out a bit later.  We continued on down to the river and noticed huge letters that spelt out "Believe", about 10 foot tall each.  We had remembered seeing them at a Burning Man Art Installation, and it was nice to see them again here!

As we went up to the river we realized the fault in our plan.  It had been storming pretty regularly for the last few days (see our post yesterday about how our train got stuck on flooded tracks).  Well, the riverwalk was completely flooded, with the water level 4-5 feet above where you would walk.  This water was roaring down the river.  It was a bit intense, so we decided that if we couldn't do the actual riverwalk, we would walk next to the river as long as we could.  A ghetto-riverwalk if you will.  We liked it!

Afterwards, we decided to go to Harrah's and take a look around there and spend a couple dollars on some Bison slot machines because of our new found love of Bison.  Well, they didn't pay out, but thats alright! Lucky in love, right?

Awwwwwwpuke.

After going from store to store trying to find champagne, cheese and crackers...   because we got a spa suite (Champagne, cheese and crackers in a hot tub in the middle of your players suite on your honeymoon, natch!), we finally found all of the necessary ingredients.

Time for a nice relaxing bubble bath!

A bit later in the day we decided to head out and get some dinner.  We decided to check out "Top Deck" which had the Prime Rib deal we mentioned earlier.  Ryan ended up getting a 2 pound burrito and Conor got the Prime Rib.  Both meals, unfortunately but perhaps not unsurprisingly? were pretty much regretted.

As we went back to our hotel, we decided it was probably time to play a bit of craps.  We both really like craps.  If you have never played it before, do it!  Just play the pass line, get some free drinks, and have a blast with everyone on the table.  Unfortunately, we didn't end up winning a ton of money, but we did get some free drinks and have a really good time.  We decided before we call it quits, we should head over to the Silvery Legacy and put $20 on black, because you know, black wins every time.  I won't need to tell you what happens next, but in case you aren't experienced in roulette, I will. Black won!

We went back up to our room and called it a night.  Not a bad day.  We had some fairly low expectations for Reno, but it ended up being pretty good, even though we lost out on our first day almost in its entirety.  Can't quite recommend the prime rib though.
