We're so glad and thankful that so many of our friends and family were able to help us celebrate our wedding. We had the most amazing day, and we couldn't have done it without the love and help from everyone who made it.
Thanks also to everyone's generous Honeyfund (and other) gifts, which mean that we're so excited to go on our Honeymoon Adventure!
Our plan has changed to be a little ambitious and a little different to what we had originally planned, but we think that it will be perfect, if possibly a little messy and complicated, because I guess that's how we roll?
We also, are extremely lucky to have the most amazing friends who don't mind if we spend part of our Honeymoon with them, or like, in their house.
So we hired this baller house in South Lake Tahoe for 2 nights the Saturday after the wedding. We had 17 of our closest homies come with us and we played in the snow and gambled and there were large tubes of meat and Christmas outfits and lots of champagne. It was pretty much the best.
Then we spent 4 nights after everyone left recovering, watching Westworld, walking in the snow, eating a fancy Italian meal and, buying socks, mostly. It was very romantic.
In mid December we drove up to Kody & Tessa's house in Red Bluff and stayed with them for a couple of weeks. We cut down a real life Christmas Tree in the snow on Kody's family's property, and had dinner with his family, we played a lot with their dogs Jager & The Chicken, we discovered the really weird joys of their super Walmart, we played a lot of Mario, Ryan did some great work and we enjoyed making dinner for each other and watching football.
Next up is our upcoming stay with Ricky for 2 nights in LA, and with Bobby & Kim in Irvine, California. We're really excited. We're also planning on staying in Portland with Scott & Erin at a later point. because when we were planning it's like time stopped behaving in a normal way so we have to wait for that to start working properly again.
Aaaaaand then we go on the real honeymoon. The really real one, you know?
The California Zephyr is a train that goes from Chicago to Emeryville in the Bay Area, and we're going to be in it! Nothing says Honeymoon Adventure like a train ride across America, right?
RIGHT.
It's actually going to be super rad and as I said above, probably messy and complicated because trains are slow and delayed and it's also the middle of winter and it snows in places. But also: super rad. They have a viewing deck and folks from the National Parks come on board and talk about all the cool things you're seeing and it goes through the Rockies and all the snow and the views and there's people who moon the train. But mostly it's about the views.
So here's our plan, please let us know if you have any hot tips and if you want, you can keep up with us on this blog where we'll be posting photos and thank you's when people's gifts come into play! We'll also be posting screenshots of all the Skype party sessions people gave us, so like, keep that in mind when we Skype with you.
