Day XIV - Leaving Yellowstone, Potato Museum, Downtown Salt Lake City, The Mormon Church, Johnny's on Second & LOTS of Train Time

We woke up today and well, present Conor & Ryan were pretty concerned that we wouldn't be able to get out of town, but the roads were now open, and although a little sketchy, we should be able to leave! Yay!

We kept on driving and eventually the packed snow turned to slush, and then faded away and we were back driving on normal roads.  We stopped in Idaho Falls, for what other than the Potato Museum!  We saw the worlds (sadly, broken) potato chip, and learned all kinds os spuddy stuff.
Naturally, then we had to get a baked potato!  So we stopped at Martha's Cafe in Idaho Falls (we both highly recommend the baked potato experience there!).

Getting back to SLC, we returned the rental car and got an Uber downtown after asking our old hotel if they could hold our bags for a couple hours (they did!).  After some quick tourist shopping, we made a list of a few of our must-see's in Salt Lake City.  Naturally, we had to go to the Mormon Church, The Mormon Office Building, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which were all very impressive buildings dominating the skyline of Salt Lake City.

After walking around the church grounds, and talking with a few people there, we walked around and saw a flower garden which was Brigham Young's original house.  We left the church and took a stroll down the Center Creek Shopping Center, which was an amazing shopping center in the middle of downtown with a creek that goes through the entire length of the center.

At this point, we were running a bit short on time, and since we wanted to make sure we took a look at some of the nightlife SLC had to offer, we made our way to Johnny's on Second after a bit of indecision.  Johnny's on Second was an excellent place.  We highly recommend the $4 "Shot & a Beer", and the chicken quesadilla wasn't half bad either!

We decided to play one of those bar-games that sort of looks like a slot-machine-virtual-poker-video-game-type-of-thing.  Well, neither of us had ever played one before, and lets just say this one was definitely rated adults only, which was both completely unexpected for Salt Lake City, and a bit awkward.  Hmm..  Maybe time for another shot & a beer.

It was starting to get pretty late, so we needed to make our way back to the Sheraton to pick up our luggage and then back to the train station for our 11pm train.  After we picked up our luggage, we saw that we were actually about 30 minutes early, so we decided to kill some time in the restaurant/bar of the hotel.  Pretty random, but also awesome, the Harlem Globetrotters had apparently decided to do the same thing!

We finally made it to our train, sat in our seats and found out that it was going to be leaving a bit late. It was around this time exactly that Conor mentioned that she "didn't know what everyone online was complaining about, Amtrak had been just perfect and on time for nearly every stop we'd had far!"

Apparently Mistress fate was listening to Conor Tempt her.

Day XV - Endless Trains, Brothel Ladies, Sean & Diane, and The Height of Debauchery

Our train the night before had actually taken off 2 hours late, taken a short 10 mile trip in the right direction ( Reno was our destination) and then stopped.

For the night.

We were supposed to arrive in Reno at 8AM, but as of 8AM, we were still basically in SLC.

So it turns out that since Amtrak doesn't own the actual tracks, and Union Pacific does.  So whenever a Union Pacific train is on its way, it will always get priority over Amtrak.  Normally, that is not a huge deal, but since the main tracks were washed out from a storm, it meant that all the trains (going both directions) were sharing a single set of tracks.

Not a big deal, we've been through worse, not gonna break us!  We decided to make the best of it, and made a couple of friends in the train, most notably, Diane, with her wonderful stuffed animal Maurice the Skunk.  After all of us complaining about how the train would be extremely delayed, we all tried to get a little bit of shut eye, without much success.

After a bit, we decided to make the best of it with a couple of beers in the viewing cart.  It was at this time, finally, when we were moving again! Beerluck!

Well, not for long. After a little while, it was revealed to us that after a certain number of hours, US Labor Laws prevent the staff of the train from working for too long, so the train needed to stop, immediately.

It turned out we were in Wells, NV,  pretty far out in the Nevada countryside.  It didn't take long to notice, by "random chance", the train was stopped directly outside the apparently world famous,"Bella's Hacienda Ranch", also known as "The #1 Legal Brothel in Wells, NV!"

Naturally, everyone started calling up Bella's and ordering T-Shirts and Shot Glasses as souvenirs! Within a couple minutes, you guessed it, a nice lady walked on over to our viewing cart, and gave everyone the glasses & shirts they had always wanted (with one person even ordering Juevos Rancheros from the ranch!).

Well, we aren't going to lie, that part of the day was pretty funny, well, at least until we stayed there for another 4-5 hours, in the exact, same, spot.  After completely playing out every possible joke we could have with our new train friends about how ridiculous our situation was, we started to get pretty antsyy, and ready to get the train on the move.

The lady who was having Braxton Hicks contractions agreed, unsurprisingly.

It did, one more time!  We started going after a bit.  Well, naturally, it wouldn't be long before the train stopped again.  This time, we ran into water.  The tracks ahead of us were completely flooded and we had to wait for a team to come out and literally fix the train tracks.  At this point, no one was particularly happy with our train ride.  It had been a long adventurous day, but it was starting to get dark, and it had been quite the long ride.

After playing some card games with Diane and Sean, we decided to head back to our cart from the viewing area and try to take a bit of a nap.  We weren't able to sleep much, but at 2am, we finally got into Reno.  Our 8 hour train trip, turned 26 hour train trip, was finally over.

We said bye to our friends, our silly brothel-train,  the very nice staff on our train and started our walk to our hotel nearby.  When we got in, we told reception of our crazy journey we had had over the last day, and being the amazing person she was, offered us a fantastic "Large Player's Spa Suite" room upgrade.  A very welcomed amenity for the end of our day.

We thought we would save a bit of money and go walk to Jack in the Box for a quick dinner since it was so late rather than getting room service.  Dumb.  Jbox was closed, not that we wanted to eat that anyway.  Lucky for us we had a pretty solid excuse to get room service.  So room service it was, and a wonderful, beautiful, amazingly comfortable bed.  Time to rest.  Finally!

Day XVI - Hot Tubs, Flooding Rivers, Champagne, Drinks & Craps!

We woke up today, and we were very glad to be in a bed instead of on a train.  After Ryan handled some quick work things, we decided to take a walk down to the riverwalk in Reno, since we had heard it was pretty nice.

As we left our hotel to walk down to the Riverwalk we noticed some pretty incredible steak and drink deals at a few of the hotels.  One of them, think it was a $4.99 Prime Rib special, caught our eye.  We decided we might need to check that out a bit later.  We continued on down to the river and noticed huge letters that spelt out "Believe", about 10 foot tall each.  We had remembered seeing them at a Burning Man Art Installation, and it was nice to see them again here!

As we went up to the river we realized the fault in our plan.  It had been storming pretty regularly for the last few days (see our post yesterday about how our train got stuck on flooded tracks).  Well, the riverwalk was completely flooded, with the water level 4-5 feet above where you would walk.  This water was roaring down the river.  It was a bit intense, so we decided that if we couldn't do the actual riverwalk, we would walk next to the river as long as we could.  A ghetto-riverwalk if you will.  We liked it!

Afterwards, we decided to go to Harrah's and take a look around there and spend a couple dollars on some Bison slot machines because of our new found love of Bison.  Well, they didn't pay out, but thats alright! Lucky in love, right?

Awwwwwwpuke.

After going from store to store trying to find champagne, cheese and crackers...   because we got a spa suite (Champagne, cheese and crackers in a hot tub in the middle of your players suite on your honeymoon, natch!), we finally found all of the necessary ingredients.

Time for a nice relaxing bubble bath!

A bit later in the day we decided to head out and get some dinner.  We decided to check out "Top Deck" which had the Prime Rib deal we mentioned earlier.  Ryan ended up getting a 2 pound burrito and Conor got the Prime Rib.  Both meals, unfortunately but perhaps not unsurprisingly? were pretty much regretted.

As we went back to our hotel, we decided it was probably time to play a bit of craps.  We both really like craps.  If you have never played it before, do it!  Just play the pass line, get some free drinks, and have a blast with everyone on the table.  Unfortunately, we didn't end up winning a ton of money, but we did get some free drinks and have a really good time.  We decided before we call it quits, we should head over to the Silvery Legacy and put $20 on black, because you know, black wins every time.  I won't need to tell you what happens next, but in case you aren't experienced in roulette, I will. Black won!

We went back up to our room and called it a night.  Not a bad day.  We had some fairly low expectations for Reno, but it ended up being pretty good, even though we lost out on our first day almost in its entirety.  Can't quite recommend the prime rib though.

Day XVII - $1000 of Spending Cash in Reno! Fancy Suites, Sierra Street Lunch, New Shoes, Atlantis Steakhouse & an Amazing Day

We woke up today, got our stuff ready, and head out to the Amtrak Station.  We would be heading back to San Francisco today, on the very last day of our honeymoon.  A bit sad for us, but we had a night booked in San Francisco, and a very nice dinner planned at Foreign Cinema.

Well, the day didn't work out quite as planned.  We got to the Amtrak station, found out that ALL westbound trains were cancelled.  Alright, bit of a bummer, we had really looked forward to this portion of the Zephyr going through the Sierra's, but not a huge problem.  As long as we can get to our reservation in SF and our hotel, we would still be happy.

They had us all scheduled on busses, so it wasn't too bad.  Unfortunately, the person in front of us was the last person to get on the 8am bus, and we found out that we would need to wait until 11am.  We got pretty bummed about this.  It meant we wouldn't be getting into San Francisco likely until around 5-6pm because of some transfers and delays.  That means it would already be getting dark by the time we got it.  Bummer.

Luckily, we hadn't checked out from our hotel room and check out wasn't til 11am. Less luckily, someone was already cleaning our room when we got back.  What followed was one of the most confusing conversations of the trip, with the lady really really wanting to stay in the room with us.

We ate some food and tried to figure out a plan for the day, and some backups in case things got worse on the Amtrak front.  Ryan decided to head down to the Amtrak station again to clarify the timing on when we would be able to get into San Francisco.  Well, the Amtrak Station said that all Westbound Service entirely was cancelled now.  The bus that left at 8am didn't even get as far as Sacramento, and had been turned back.  There was a huge mudslide that was causing some big issues as far as transportation went.

Back to our hotel room again.  Now, we really had to make a plan.  Our non-refundable hotel in San Francisco, the last, and most expensive hotel of our whole honeymoon, wasn't going to happen now. Our reservation at Foreign Cinema, missed.  Well.  This sucks.  Stuck in Reno.  No hotel, and blowing a ton of money in San Francisco without enjoying it at all.

We called Foreign Cinema and cancelled our reservation, and then hoped that maybe our hotel in San Francisco might have some mercy on us.  After a quick call, they fully refunded our hotel, and wished us the best of luck on our honeymoon night in Reno!  Incredibly nice service at The Park Central.  There is a reason they are just about our favorite hotel.

After pouting for a bit about how our trip wasn't going to go as planned, we remembered that we had booked our whole trip on a credit card because it offered some trip interruption insurance.  After calling up Chase to find out exactly what that entailed, we found out that we were covered for up to $500 of expenses per passenger for a trip delay of over 12 hours.  After clarifying, we found out that acceptable expenses include hotel rooms, restaurants, toiletries, necessities, and food.

Needless to say, we were cautiously optimistically excited.  After a few calls, we found out that the Silver Legacy had another Spa Suite on the 33rd floor available and booked that.  After we checked into our new room, we saw that our extra night in Reno might not be all that bad thanks to Chase. Our view was amazing.  The hot tub was amazing.  Somehow, this room was even better than our last!

We decided to take a look at some of the places we could get lunch and dinner at, and to make a plan. We decided that Sierra Street Kitchen & Cocktails was the place to go for for lunch.  It was rated #1 on TripAdvisor for lunch, so we figured that would work pretty good.  We went down there, and ordered some of the most delicious tapas of our life.  Credit well spent in our opinion!

Since we would obviously need to be walking around Reno all day now that we were going to stay here another night, and it was raining and Conor's shoes had holes in them because she loves her shoes too much and never wants new ones, Ryan was this time able to convince her to get new ones.

Pretty Pink ones!

So a quick Uber to the local shopping mall to re-up on some DC Shoes.  Again, credit well spent!

We went back to the room, and yup, you guessed it.  Champagne, Cheese & Crackers in the Hot Tub. You know... because... honeymoons!

After some more R&R in the room it was getting close to time for dinner.  We took an Uber to our reservation at The Atlantis Steakhouse.  Upon arriving, we were escorted to our reserved table with our name placard on it.  We were greeted and asked about what our special occasion was, and they were very excited that it was our honeymoon.

Nearly immediately, they came back with some appetizers that had ready for us as we looked through the menu and ordered a bottle of wine and our actual appetizers.  As soon as we were finished with the first appetizers we were given, our wonderfully friendly waiter brought our bottle of wine.  As soon as we had had a moment to enjoy a taste of our wine, our delicious pork belly lollipops were brought to the table.

The whole evening went like that, a non-stop incredible experience.  The second we had finished with our last meal, the next thing was brought to us.  Not a moment of downtime.  But not in a creepy way either.  Just a naturally occurring flow of events leading us from tasting to tasting on a delicious journey.

Naturally for our meals we had both ordered delicious steaks.  They had the 2lb option, but we decided we didn't need to get that outrageous with it.  The people at the table next to us did.  A 2 pound steak and lobster combination, is just ridiculous.  That is all.

Conor's steak was actually cooked next to our table, with a experience full of flames and excellent showmanship.  After devouring our delicious steaks and scallops, we barely had room for anything else.  But of course, this incredible dining experience had already made us a fancy desert with congratulations written on it in chocolate just for us.

Incredible.  Dinning.  Experience.

After some quick craps at the Atlantis, we got a ride back to our hotel and called it a night.  Such an amazing, and incredible day.  Huge thanks to Chase for their trip protection.  If you are not using a credit card to book your trips with trip delay protection, you are messing up, so go get on it!  Simply incredible.  An amazing way to spend our last day in Reno.

Day XVIII - Rental Cars, Truckee, Impromptu Sacramento & Zwack Attack

We woke up today pretty invigorated from the last 24 hours.  We went down to the Amtrak station to catch our rescheduled train out to San Francisco, but unfortunately, again all westbound travel was cancelled entirely.  As much as it would be great to have another $500 each of spending money in Reno, the credit card protection doesn't work quite that way, and if we were to spend anymore money on our trip delay, it would all be coming out of our pocket now.

After checking around online for a little bit, oddly enough, it seemed there were some stellar deals on rental cars, going one-way, back to San Francisco.  We decided that although it wouldn't quite be the Amtrak train we had wanted, driving back to San Francisco wouldn't be too bad, and since it would be a rental car, we would do a quick stop in Truckee and Sacramento on the way back!  Two cities we both had really wanted to see on our trip, and a nice way to break up the trip.

We ended up renting a car from the airport for $20!  Sure, it wasn't anything too special, more like a large smart car, but it would most certainly serve our purpose for the day!  We got on the road and started up the Sierra Nevada mountains!

It didn't take long before we saw all the road closures, particularly for trucks and busses, with all of them on the side of the road, waiting and hoping that it would open soon.  We continued on up the hills in our jolly little 4-banger until we finally got up to Truckee.  We didn't have much planned for Truckee, but we thought it might be a good place to get a bite to eat.

We walked around Truckee a bit, and then found a pretty cool looking cafe called "Coffee &".  We decided to go there, mainly because there was a really cool dog laying outside of it.  The dog didn't let us down.  Both of our breakfasts were  delicious.  Conor decided that "Coffee &" would be to perfect place to buy her new coffee mug, which she had been looking to buy for the whole trip.

We left Truckee and started our journey towards Sacramento.  We decided, on the way, that since it was already starting to get late in the day, maybe we should stay in Sacramento for the night.  We decided to book the hotel then and there, and since we still had a tiny bit leftover from our $500 reimbursement for our trip delay, a fairly decent portion of the hotel would still be covered!

We booked the Sheraton Grand Sacramento, and when we checked in we told them about the crazy last few days we had had.  They were more than sympathetic and gave us an outrageously large corner suite with an amazing view of downtown Sacramento as well as champagne and chocolates.

We're just about 100% spoiled at this point.

We went down towards Old Town Sacramento and really enjoyed the whole city as we walked over there.  People looked happy, friendly, and it really just seemed like a really nice place to be.  Once we got into Old Town we hung out there for a bit, looked at a couple touristy spots, saw a couple having their wedding photos taken, watched the amazing Sacramento River flow, and then started our way back to our hotel.

We walked around the State Capital and then went back towards our hotel room.  We went through a small corridor with a ton of birds and naturally, we waved at them and said "Hi!".  Well.  Those birds were assholes.  They pooped on both of us!  We barely even realized what had happened, then we got the hell out of there once we did! But, it's supposed to be good luck, right?

Right?

We got back into our hotel, and got into an elevator where we heard a kid go "ew," likely talking about how we both had poop on us.

Our amazing friend Erik had been living in Sacramento for a while now, so we decided to hit him up and see if he was up to anything for the night.  He was more than down to hang out, so we decided to meet him at a local bar, Blue Cue.

We went down to Blue Cue, and before long we met up with Erik!  After catching up for a bit and having a quick drink, we decided a venue change was due for us.  Blue Cue was great, but it was a little loud to actually talk, so we decided to head down towards The Golden Bear for a drink.  Well somehow, the three of us ended up ordering 5 drinks.  None of us were quite sure how it happened, but we figured we would somehow make it work.  After we finished our 5 drinks there, we decided to go for a walk around Sacramento.

We didn't really know much about where we were, but we decided to just go for a stroll and see how it went.  Well, it went good.  About a block later we saw some people hanging outside a clothing store and we slowed down a little bit.  They said "Come on in!" and so naturally, we did.  They welcomed us to their clothing shop that was throwing some sort of party "Quality Boutique and Bru'".  Amazing place!  If you are in the area, I would highly recommend checking it out.

After hanging out with them for a bit, having a beer, and Erik buying a bowtie, we decided it was time to head out for more adventures.  We walked around a bit more and ended up at a sake & sushi bar of sorts.  We relaxed there for a while, got a pitcher of beer, and Facetimed with a few friends.  Amazing time!

We ended up heading back to our place after that, and put another night in the books for our fantastic honeymoon!  Big thanks to Erik for showing us around Sacramento, and the city of Sacramento as well, for being badass!

Day XIX - Sacramento to San Francisco! Red's Java House, Amazing SF Suites, Foreign Cinema, Teeth SF & Sweet Suite Partyin!

We woke up today and got our stuff packed for the drive into our (actual) last night of our honeymoon.  We had built up our last night/San Francisco night pretty big in our head, so we were hoping that we weren't going to be let down.

On the way, we stopped by the city of Davis.  A small college town on the outskirts of Sacramento, friendly, smart, quant.  A nice combination of things.  So we decided to exit here and take a quick look around the city. Plus, there was an In 'n' Out, so it basically had to happen anyway.

We liked Davis a lot as well, we didn't actually get out of the car... but it looked like a very nice, friendly place.  Conor was ready to take the jump and move there after a quick 2 minutes of driving around "Ok, lets live here!". So there you go; Davis, you're apparently very liveable from a 5 minute drive around you.

We kept on driving down towards the bay, through Vallejo, and then on to the Bay Bridge.  If we hadn't already been used to the Bay Bridge, this would have definitely been an amazing highlight.  It is a monster of a bridge, beautiful, newly-redone, and a huge icon of the SF Bay Area.  It goes directly into downtown San Francisco, in a pretty spectacular way, almost like if there was a bridge going directly into the southern tip of Manhattan.

Since we were going to get bit with the $5 toll to cross it anyways, we figured we might as well double down and make someones day by paying for the person behind us.

The person behind us, once it was safe, drove past us, and literally waved their arms out of the window of their car (the passenger) and blew us kisses as they drove on.  They looked like some of the happiest people we had seen!

The rental car return was very close to our newly booked hotel, The Westin St. Francis in Union Square.  After returning the car, we took a quick walk to our hotel and tried to check in.  We were still a bit early, so they took our luggage and told us they would give us a call once the room was ready.

We decided to take a walk down to a place we had read about "The Pink Elephant", about a 20 minute walk away.  It felt great to be "home" back in the bay.

After walking downtown and in SOMA for a bit more, passing the gigantic construction of the Salesforce Tower (2nd biggest building west of the Mississippi!), we decided to get an Uber down to the water and look for a place to have a drink, relaxing outside.  We went to Red's Java House, a small, divey, bar on the water, next to the bay bridge.  Great place, good deals, and a nice outside patio area.  Hard to beat, and just what we were looking for!

After some beer and Fish & chips in the sunshine on the Bay, we got an Uber back to our hotel to check in.  After checking in, we got in the glass elevators up to our room, which were something pretty close to what you might imagine in Charlie and the Chocolate factory.  Amazing, beautiful glass elevators with an epic 180 degree view of San Francisco all the way up to the top of the building.

The Westin St. Francis had upgraded us to an absolutely gorgeous corner suite, with an incredible 270 degree view thanks to the protruding windows, a beautiful living room, and a wonderful bedroom.  It was bigger than most full on apartments in San Francisco, it even had two full bathrooms!  And of course, the Westin St Francis did not skimp, they quickly sent up a champagne and chocolate strawberries plate!  We were blown away.  This stay was incredible.

After enjoying our champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, watching the sunset over the entirety of San Francisco, we went out to one of the dinners we had been looking forward to the most over the whole trip, Foreign Cinema.  A beautiful restaurant tucked away in the Mission that boasts foreign and independent films are screened in their inner courtyard.

We got there, and while not quite a foreign or independent film, they were playing Dirty Dancing, which we thought was still sort of acceptable for the vibe they were going for.  The overall setting was really nice.  A dim, romantic, candlelit experience, in the Mission, with some trendy vibes about it.  We weren't sure if it really was in strong competition with some of the Michelin Star restaurants in SF, but it was a pretty incredible experience nonetheless.

After our dinner, we decided to get a little night cap at a local bar, Teeth SF.  After a quick drink there, we went back to our hotel, got some champagne, and finished off the last night of our honeymoon.  Today was a fantastic day.  A fantastic end to a fantastic honeymoon :)

Day XX - Our Real Final Final Honeymoon Day! An Irish Bar, Vesuvio, Pink Elephant, Conor's Agde Necklace & Bracelet, Wine at the Ferry Building, Semi-Free Drinks on the Ferry, Copita, Poggio and The Final Drink of the Honeymoon at Pint Size!

We weren't really sure if the day we went home from San Francisco to our home in San Rafael would really count as an extra honeymoon day, but you could be damned if we weren't going to try!

We woke up today in our room at the Westin St Francis in San Francisco and after briefly checking Facebook, saw that our amazingly talented friend Jonboy had performed an amazing acoustic masterpiece of "Down Under" by Men at Work.  A wonderful way to start our final honeymoon-ish day!

We packed up all of our stuff and got ready for a bit of exploring the city before heading back home. We left our stuff with the bellman in the lobby and went out for a day on the town!  We started off by going to the local Irish Bar near our hotel for a quick drink, but after realizing the $9 Guiness Drafts were a bit out of our price range, decided to head over to a bar on Columbus, Vesuvio.

We got an Uber over to Vesuvio and talked with our bartender about the crazy journey we had been on over the last few days, our honeymoon, Yellowstone, and how we were basically in the very last moments of our honeymoon.  It wasn't long before we met three English guys that came in and talked with them for a while.  They were on vacation in San Francisco, so we told babbled their ears off about all of the awesome things we thought they should do.

After some delicious wings and a couple beers at our next spot the Pink Elephant, we decided it was probably about time to head back to the hotel and pick up our bags and make our way down to the ferry building.  After picking up our bags, we got another Uber down towards Market Street and got out so that we could walk around the markets in the Embarcadero before heading out.  After much debate, Conor ended up buying a giraffe shirt as her last Honeymoon souvenir, and we started towards the ferry building.

Except then Ryan stopped, in the middle of the busy intersection right outside the Ferry Building and asked, "Should I do a fake proposal here and get us a ton of attention and then we can start our honeymoon all over again?"

Conor laughed, 'hahaha'

THEN he got down on one knee, and pulled out a necklace and set of earrings that he had been carrying throughout the whole honeymoon.  It was a special necklace set that he had purchased back in the middle of 2015 in Europe, and saved over the last 18 months to give at a special time, and there wasn't anything more special than the very end of our honeymoon!

After a nice glass of wine at the ferry building, we got on our wonderful ferry back to San Rafael and rode off into the sunset.  We had finished our honeymoon, and it was amazing.

Ryan & Conor's Honeymoon Adventure!

We're so glad and thankful that so many of our friends and family were able to help us celebrate our wedding. We had the most amazing day, and we couldn't have done it without the love and help from everyone who made it.

Thanks also to everyone's generous Honeyfund (and other) gifts, which mean that we're so excited to go on our Honeymoon Adventure!

Our plan has changed to be a little ambitious and a little different to what we had originally planned, but we think that it will be perfect, if possibly a little messy and complicated, because I guess that's how we roll?

We also, are extremely lucky to have the most amazing friends who don't mind if we spend part of our Honeymoon with them, or like, in their house.

So we hired this baller house in South Lake Tahoe for 2 nights the Saturday after the wedding. We had 17 of our closest homies come with us and we played in the snow and gambled and there were large tubes of meat and Christmas outfits and lots of champagne. It was pretty much the best.

Then we spent 4 nights after everyone left recovering, watching Westworld, walking in the snow, eating a fancy Italian meal and, buying socks, mostly. It was very romantic.

In mid December we drove up to Kody & Tessa's house in Red Bluff and stayed with them for a couple of weeks. We cut down a real life Christmas Tree in the snow on Kody's family's property, and had dinner with his family, we played a lot with their dogs Jager & The Chicken, we discovered the really weird joys of their super Walmart, we played a lot of Mario, Ryan did some great work and we enjoyed making dinner for each other and watching football.

Next up is our upcoming stay with Ricky for 2 nights in LA, and with Bobby & Kim in Irvine, California. We're really excited. We're also planning on staying in Portland with Scott & Erin at a later point. because when we were planning it's like time stopped behaving in a normal way so we have to wait for that to start working properly again.

Aaaaaand then we go on the real honeymoon. The really real one, you know?

The California Zephyr is a train that goes from Chicago to Emeryville in the Bay Area, and we're going to be in it! Nothing says Honeymoon Adventure like a train ride across America, right?

RIGHT.

It's actually going to be super rad and as I said above, probably messy and complicated because trains are slow and delayed and it's also the middle of winter and it snows in places. But also: super rad. They have a viewing deck and folks from the National Parks come on board and talk about all the cool things you're seeing and it goes through the Rockies and all the snow and the views and there's people who moon the train. But mostly it's about the views.

So here's our plan, please let us know if you have any hot tips and if you want, you can keep up with us on this blog where we'll be posting photos and thank you's when people's gifts come into play! We'll also be posting screenshots of all the Skype party sessions people gave us, so like, keep that in mind when we Skype with you.

Chicago - 4 nights - We'll hopefully be going to a Second City Comedy show here, hang out with our friend Shelley and my dad bought us tickets to the Sears Tower scary glass tall building thing.
Omaha - 1 night
Denver - 1 night
Glenwood -Springs - 3 nights
Salt Lake City - 1 night
Rent a car, drive to West Yellowstone
